Karaoke Queen

On Monday night I went to karaoke at "The Local". It was my first time there, so there were a few butterflies in my tummy, but the crowd was fun, the singers were entertaining, and I got a free shot for singing well!
I'm not sure if it was my singing or my outfit that got the most cheers though.

Everyone loved my sequins!

Top- Monsoon (UK) bought on Ebay
Leggings- Old Navy
Shoes- Primark (UK)
Lips- Benetint by Benefit
Cheeks- Mocha by MAC
Eyeliner- Teddy by MAC

The top was surprisingly comfortable, and the intricate sequin patterns made it feel really special. I wanted to wear it with jeans, but it's long enough to be a dress, so I thought that leggings would be appropriate enough.
My beigey pink shoes are from Primark and have leather uppers that have moulded to the shape of my feet. I will cry the day I have to throw them away.

I didn't have anyone to take a picture of me today, so here's a mirror shot and an illustration of what I wore to lunch today.

Hope you like it!

Royally lovely

I FINALLY got my ASOS Curve package that I'd ordered on boxing day (that's the day after Christmas for any non English folk). Only half of the things I ordered worked for me, but it was the good half, so I'm pretty happy.

The good (left to right);
1- The blue dress is blousey and a beautiful color. It's a little big around the bust, but I'm keeping it.
2- The long jersey dress feels so soft and so beautiful. I'll wear it a million times.
3- This purple dress is so pretty, and so comfortable. My only problem is that it wrinkles like no other dress that I have owned (see below)
4- The print dress is the same as the purple, except it is see through and comes with a black tank underneath. I like it a lot, it's more black and tan than black and white like the picture looks which makes me it a less obvious color combination. I always love outfits that have something a little different about them.
5- I bought the ruched sleeve shirt in a bright blue color. It makes me feel ladylike and cool at the same time with it's exposed zipper in the back.
The bad (left to right);
1- This beige skirt looked so awful on me that I laughed for longer than I care to admit (I wish I had have taken a photo). I'm only 5'5, so it came to my mid calf, and the stitching on the front made me look like I had enormous saddle bags. So wrong, from every angle.
2- The jeans fit OK; I had no muffin top and I liked the way they ruched at the bottom, but I couldn't get over how uncomfortable they were. I usually wear flared or wide leg jeans because I think they flatter my body shape; I was trying to be brave by trying "skinny jeans" but I think I'll stick to my usual styles.
3- This dress was way too big and the colors were muddy and made me look sick. I don't know who this dress was made for, but it was not me.
4- I loved this dress on line, and I loved how it looked when I took it out of the packet at home, but it needed alterations to fit me around the shoulders and bust. The sleeves shape is made with wire so I think it would have been too much of a difficult job to tailor. I'm sad about this one and thinking about exchanging it for a smaller size to see if that makes enough of a difference.
5- These leggings are lovely, they look lovely and they feel lovely, but they were too big. I may get these in a smaller size too.

I wore the purple dress to get coffee with my friend Kate.
I love the color of the dress, it's a gorgeous regal purple.
I also really like the asymmetric dip in the hem, it makes it look special and more interesting.

The necklace is from Charlotte Russe, my earrings are from Urban Outfitters (they're "L" initials), my leggings are from Old Navy and my shoes are from an independent store in Little 5 Points, Atlanta, GA called Junkman's Daughter.

I wore teal eyeliner because I love purple, gold and green together. I also wore "Dallas" blush by Benefit on my cheeks in an attempt to not look so pale :)

Snowpocalypse

Atlanta has been at a stand still for most of the week. The snow came down on Sunday night, then the freezing rain came and outfitted the city in a blanket of ice. This has meant that I didn't leave the house for 5 days! I live on Peachtree Road, which is one of the busiest streets in Atlanta, and seeing an accident every 20 minutes (I kid you not) meant that I was too scared to risk it.
So, last night me and my hubby had decided that mother nature had kept us captive long enough, we were going to our friend Jay's album listening party. It was awesome! I danced, sang and sipped on some Malibu, I almost forgot it was freezing outside.

Coat- Old Navy
Top- Macys
Jeans- New Look (UK)
Bag- River Island (UK)
Earrings- Anthropologie
Necklace- Betsey Johnson pendant on a vintage chain
Pin- Vintage find in Hexham antique shop in Northumbria (UK)
Sour puss because it's cold out!

The rest of the week I've pretty much just looked like this, drinking coffee, tea and hot chocolate from my "soft kitty" mug.
Lets hope next week I have a reason to put on pants!

Domino Dollhouse

I was pleasantly surprised on Saturday when I received my order from Domino Dollhouse.I found Domino Dollhouse through founder Tracy Broxterman's blog ChubbleBubble.
I ordered the Comic Betty Cardigan ($34.99)
and the Alice skirt ($24.99).
The Alice skirt is waaaay too tight for me to wear, which I'm bummed about because it's super cute. Their return policy seems very reasonable, so I guess I'll be sending it back. I hope whoever gets it loves it as much as I would have *sigh*.
I'm not mad that it didn't fit; this is a price you have to pay for online shopping. Even when you measure yourself to make sure things fit, you never know a garment until you try it on.

On a plus side, the Betty Cardigan fits just fine! It's a warm almost fuzzy material (the tags aren't in English). I paired it with a denim skirt, black opaque tights and black boots so that it was the focus of my outfit on Saturday. I thought the colors would be a little more saturated, but I'm glad they're a little faded as it means the shirt is a little vintage looking. The pricing I thought was very reasonable, especially seen as though I'd gotten free shipping by using a coupon code.
So comfy!

You can find Domino Dollhouse on Facebook , Tumblr or their website.

I'm with the band!

Last night me and my husband went to see our friend Siraaj play in his band "FYN" at Vinyl in Midtown.
I was wary about the sound seen as though they're a rock band and he's a trumpet player, but I was pleasantly surprised. The trumpet added a cool groove, which made it sound like Funkadelic.
It was cool; I danced, laughed at the 2 man mosh pit and got to hang out with my hubby past bedtime.

Forgive my blurry eyes, my eyes water when it's windy.
Jacket-Macys (it's pleather, not leather unfortunately)
Guitar T-shirt- Delias
Jeans- New Look
Shoes- Kohls (I was so excited to get these from my best friend Leah for Christmas.
Sometimes I don't want to wear heels when I go out, and these pewter shoes still feel special enough to deserve a cocktail.)
Bag-See by Chloe (perfect size for a music venue, I do wish the strap was a little longer though)

I wore "Silverstroke" eyeliner and "Mocha" blush by MAC and  Too Faced glamour gloss in "Pillow Talk". I love the way the glamour gloss tingles on your lips. The packaging is really pretty too.

Yours Clothing

On Christmas day I decided that I would spend the money my mum gave me at YOURSCLOTHING. They had a crazy sale, so I figured there wasn't a better time. Here's what I got

Christmas Day shopping spree

I'm excited for them to get here. There has been horrid weather in the UK, so I'm trying to be patient.

This is how I will style the tulip skirt, when it gets warmer, I'll probably wear it with a solid color t-shirt, but while it's still windy I'll put on my bomber!

Biker Chic?

Last night me and my best friend Leah went to one of our favorite pubs Charlie G's. As she snapped some photos of me to put on here, a Policeman saw us and thought that the photos would be better if we posed on his motorcycle, so we did! It was pretty cool, I'm not going to lie.

Get to know me.

Name...
Lynne Tanzer AKA DollFacedLynne

Hometown...
Newcastle Upon Tyne, England but I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA because of my American husband.

Occupation...
I am the owner of Hodgepodge Coffee House and Gallery in East Atlanta, GA.
I do freelance make up artistry

and have an Etsy store for my paintings.

My style in a word...
Ever-changing

First serious splurge...
Vivienne Westwood bowling bag. I got it on Ebay as a girl was selling all the wonderful stuff her cheating ex-boyfriend gave her. I was 19 and it was 80 British Pounds, which was more than I made in a week.
I still adore it.

Most worn item of clothing...
The article of clothing that I wear the most is my pair of Vintage wash Gap Long and Lean jeans in size 20.

Trend I wish I'd never tried...
Best style advice I've ever gotten...
Know your strengths.
I always feel most comfortable when my upper arms are covered and my decolletage is visable. I love dressing up, but there's nothing worse than going out and suddenly realizing that you feel like everyone is looking at you for all the wrong reasons and all you want to do is go home.

Beauty Products I can't live without...
This is tough because I pretty much put on a full face of "slap" every day. I have been a make up artist for 4 years and I fell in love with the art from day one.
I guess if a gun was held to my head and I had to say what top ten products I can't live without they are as follows.

*Cargo Blu Ray Pressed powder * Benefit Erase Paste
* MAC Viva Glam V Lipglass *Urban Decay Primer Potion
*Benefit High Beam   *Benefit Brow Zings
*Stila Major Major lash mascara *Smashbox nude Lip liner
*Smashbox Jet set waterproof eyeliner * Urban Decay Dew Me Moisturizing setting spray

Most Glamorous moment of my life...
I felt pretty spiffy on my wedding day.

Favorite Chain Store...
Target, but I keep sending emails to Anthropologie begging them to make a plus size section.

Favorite Style Blog...
Miss Elsie Flannigan (Soon to be Larson) stole my heart a long time ago.
Celebrity close I'd like to raid...
Kelly Osbourne

I wish I had the nerve to wear...
petticoats

I feel beautiful when...
a stranger tells me I am, which is why I make certain to tell strangers when I think they look awesome :)
